 8. Gist of the Lesson

- The Donkey: This poem highlights how even though the donkey is often overlooked and considered slow or dull, it still deserves kindness and empathy. It emphasizes not judging others based on appearances.

- I Had a Little Pony: This poem talks about how the speaker had a little pony who was mistreated by a man who wanted it to work hard. The poem conveys the importance of kindness towards animals and not overburdening them.

- The Milkman’s Cow: This story tells how the milkman’s cow refuses to move, despite many attempts by different people to get it to budge. It’s only when a young boy approaches with compassion and a kind gesture that the cow finally moves. The story teaches us that gentleness and understanding are often more effective than force.
